Ato Muluneh Eyoel has been secretary General of Kinijit. He is a young, vibrant and dynamic individual who could have been a very important person within Ethiopian politics.
I respect his decision to leave Kinijit/UDJ, leave Ethiopia and start his life in the Diaspora. His contributions to the struggle and the sacrifices he paid shall not be forgotten by many. We thank him for all theseand would like to share the respect we have for him as an individual and a former high official of Kinijit.
However, he alleged comment he gave to Awramba Times is something that I reject and respectfully disagee.
In the first place, Kinijit hasnot collapsed. Individuals may go astray or leave the party; or even leave the country. Kinijit has been always about the people, noit indivividuals.So forthe former secretary general to talk such langauge is very shameful. Kinijit is active and kicking. Currently the spirit of Kinijit is intensifying under a new name : UDJ.
Second, Ato Muluneh complained that mistakes of the past were not corrected. What mistakes ? From what we know the by-laws and political program of Kinijit, which is basically the same as the old by-law and political program of Kinijit, has been discussed by supporters. The by-laws nad program were adopted by the UDJ General Assembly. Ato Muluneh did not explain what these mistakes are and did not try to fix them within the party. He failed to be present in the General Assembly and make his case.
Isn’t kinijit/UDJ an open and transparent organization? Until he left to the US he has been silent ..All of a sudden these complains against Kinijit/UDJ is something that I cannot understand and surely have no place.
the UDJ which Ato Muluneh was part of, had its successful General Assembly.More than 10000 signitures were collected. They are mobilizing Ethiopians for the peaceful and civilized struggle.For Ato Mulunehto say that the peaceful struggle cannot work in Ethiopia without showing any meaningful alternative and deciding to leave in teh diaspora is pretty much disingenious. if he want to live in America like many of us , get eductaion , get dollars …it is his right. We have no moral authority to question him. However to just give silly and untrue reasons to justify his exile life is something that we cannot accept.
Ato Muluneh may not be aware of the Diaspora Ethiopians. We do not follow individuals. We follow principles. If he decide to join Ginbot 7 (a diaspora group that has not offered any meaningful alternatives other than rethorics), then it is right to join. However he is not joining Ginbot 7 because the peaceful struggle is not working. The peaceful struggle is working and is beeing waged from within Ethiopia by the people of Ethiopia.
A struggle that is based in diaspora or Asmara , and directed by e-mails will take us no where. I am sure Ato Muluneh will find out about that very soon. I would like to put his attention the later Eng Kitaw, then Ato Zewdalem, Colonel Asrat Bogalle, Ato Twat Pol, Ato Mushe Semu, COmmander MEskerem , EPRP,MEISON and many diaspora based political group who have been telling us som many stories for decades. All of these have been promising us that they would force the weyanes by force. Where are all these groups now ?
By the way Awramba times is published in Ethiopia. At least Ginbot 7 messages are freely published within Ethiopia. I see that as a very small positive step.

I think you the so called Diaspora politicians are crazy. You want somebody to do it, which is you couldn’t to do. Muluneh spent 21 months in EPRDF prison with a lot of suffering from his precise young age. At least he does what is expected from him as an Ethiopian. He fights EPRDF fearlessly. If you think that, still there is room to win EPRDF only in the peaceful struggle you can go ahead. If you can make a difference we will be more than happy. What we need is change. We try our beset in peaceful struggle, but at the end we realize that it is not working and we decide that to use all type of struggle.
I think we need to avoid the fight among us, why you worry this much? Or you are EPRDF and speaking under the cover of Option. If so I can understand b/c you are getting madder

This is very strange and confusing. We all knew that Andargachew and Dr. Berhanu have decided to stay abroad and manage the planning, fund raising strategizing the so called G7 movement. But we assumed they will be recruiting the locals to do what they are planning to do (most are hoping they will be sending trained paratroopers, even though no one is holding their breath for this eventuality) to get rid of the Woyanie skunk. Apparently we have misjudged them; all along they are planning to get rid of the TPLF mafia by scaring them to death from a distance of six thousand miles with the help of deft propaganda, stern warnings and strategic saber rattling. Way to go G7!
It is really sad that Dr. Berhanu feels he needs company to justify his NOT returning to Addis at the end of the delegation tour. It is extremely strange for someone, the caliber of Dr. Berhanu to write a 650 page book on the ‘virtue of peaceful struggle‘, in prison, and then renege on his own priciples six months out of prison. This tells us, he wasn’t on the level at one point or another. Obviously we expected him to do the right thing and return with the rest of the CUD folks and work hard to strengthen Kinijit (UDJP). People like Muluneh Eyoel would have been a great asset for the real movement in Ethiopia. Now he is reduced to yet another Diaspora politician joining the ranks of Dr. Taye, Dr. Negede, Dr. Berhanu, Eyasu Alemayeh, Andargachew Tsige, Goshu Wolde, Mersha Yoseph and all the other ex military folks.
Our deepest gratitude and respect should go to the folks in Addis, facing the Woyanie beast face to face by saying ‘here I am! Do your worst!’. We owe a great deal to W/t Bertukan Mideksa, Dr. Yacob H/Mariam and the great Professor Mesfin and all the founding members and supporters of UDJP. They are teaching a great lesson to all the demagogues like Hailu Shawl and the rest that you don’t need to compromise your democratic principles to bring about democracy. With these folks at least we know that they mean what they say and that is a big plus in this day and age in Ethiopian politics.
Anyway, I would like to finish this very long post by wishing our brother Eyoel and the G7 group good luck and God speed.

I read your comments on Muleneh, in my opinion, you are so subjective, in may ways, you tried to put Muleneh down. Muleneh is a very smart young Ethiopian who can assess and evaluate the current political situation in Addis Abeba and then he can move forwards based on in his own analysis. You do not have to mentor him what to do. He is matured and intelligent enough to do his own things. He also suffered enough at his young age. He tried to fight Woyanne peacefully but now he wants to mix it. Then we will see what will happen in near future. What is wrong with that?
Why do you try to characterize people? why do not mind your own business? You do not have to agree with Muluneh anything he does. If you want to educate about peaceful struggle just write a nice article to convince others but do not impose on them. If you want to go to Ethiopia instead of here to fight TEPLf, no body is going to twist your arms to stop you but do not impose on others.
