Islamists Seize Provincial Capital Near Ethiopian Border

By VOA News - 08 August 2008Woyane soldiers fled the town . Witnesses in Somalia say Islamist insurgents have seized control of Hudur, the capital of the Bakool region.

The insurgent group al-Shabab says on its Web site that its fighters entered Hudur early Friday after government-allied soldiers fled the town late Thursday.

The governor of Bakool confirmed in a phone interview with VOA’s Somali service that he and other officials have left the town.

The Bakool region borders Ethiopia, which has thousands of troops in Somalia supporting the country’s U.N.-backed administration led by President Abdullahi Yusuf.

Anti-government insurgents have captured other provincial towns in recent months but have usually withdrawn after a short time.

Islamists briefly controlled much of Somalia in 2006 before a joint offensive by the government and Ethiopia pushed them from power. Insurgents have waged an 18-month effort to drive out the Ethiopians and topple the government.

We have no power to do or say about the action of those who behalves like colonialist in their own country and dared to invade a neighboring country without any provocation.
I have yet to see any potential benefit for TPLF in this war, let alone for Ethiopia. It is the personal ego of a single person which led to the involvement of Ethiopians in this war and it’s his strubrnoss that will leave Ethiopians engaged in it for long time in midst of other peoples conflict.
May God give cool him down so that he spares the rest of them for their mother and loved ones? it will be very diffuclt to attain a swift victrory in it to satsify the ego this guy, it will only be a prtoracted tit for tat.

Usaually, that is what happens when some leaders are forced to be servants of some powerhouse. I do not believe the Weyanes have much of a choice now that the US has got them by the balls. The only way they can run and hide is if the US decides that it is time to replace them with some UN, AU forces at the payroll of the US tax money which may or may not be available depending on democratically contrlled US House’s mood..

one Ethiopia you are dying slowly. You will never see the light of power in Ethiopia going forward. The fight of these two terrorists may weaken them and ultimately lead to their demise, but if you and your folks don’t get off your couch, stop talking, and do something; then you will be a Masero as you have been the last 17 years.
The problem with you is that you talk and talk, and you expect the downfall of the Meles regime by miracle. Get up you potato ass and fight. Don;t let your sorry limbs die on your while observing and expecting a miracle to happen.

News broadcasted about Islamists occupation of border towns is a sad story. What comes next could be insurgent’s dummy run to occupy our towns inside our territory. However, woyane is an anti Ethiopian element, I don’t like any sort of Eritrea’s interference in the Ethiopian affairs. This is because; Eritrea is always on the other side. Isaias under no circumstances support the cause of Ethiopia, even if he cries on his ER-TV every other day. He is there with his hidden motive. Don’t trust him. My advice to fellow Ethiopians is to evict the owner of the failed state with collaborative effort before he either sold our country or get defeated by external insurgents from four corners.
