BBC - Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba made it an Olympic double after winning the 5,000m on Friday in the Bird’s Nest. [VIDEO]
A week after winning the 10,000m, Dibaba sprinted to victory ahead of Turkey’s Elvan Abeylegesse and defending champion Meseret Defar.
After a sluggish start with nobody willing to push the pace, Dibaba took the lead with two laps remaining to finish with a time of 15:41.40 secs. It is the first time a female runner has won the 5,000m and 10,000m titles.

Wow! 2nd gold medal for us by you? What a wonderful accomplishment.
Tirunish good job! We all are proud of you. And congratulations all Ethiopians. I am also glad Meseret Defar brought bronze using this occasion. I am hoping we will hear another good news tomorrow by our hero’s on men’s 5000m as well.
Our next accomplishment for the rest of Ethiopians would be getting rid of the weyane MENGA criminal group from Ethiopia before the 2012 London Olympics. Yes! We all can do it along with the best leaders of Ginbot 7.
Lets us all become heroes of our country as Tirunish, Meseret, kennenissa, sileshi and others. Lets all contribute our best potential to Ginbot 7 and bring down the Weyane criminal groups.

With so little resources, we achieve many “first times”. This is the Ethiopian spirit as I see it. Imagine what would happen if we had more freedom! Imagine what would happen if we could root out the corruption and nepotism in the athletics federation: we could win more medals in the 1500 and 800 runs and the 3000 steeplechase, and regain our supremacy in the marathon.
With all those handicaps, we are still on top of the world of middle and long distance running.
Thanks Trruyyee and Mesi for lifting our spirits. There is more to come!!

i dont agree with you about 800m 1500 3000 steeplachase and marathon.yes you did well in 10000m and 5000m.but you guys should forget about marathons and middle because it belongs to the country which beat you in the medal table,i mean to the country which took home 5 golds 5 silver and 4 bronce.the performance was awesome for them!!!!

am just thinking about what would have been hapen to you guys if kenenisa or dibaba got injured. because you depend only on thos two guys.any way defar this days is dead sileshi never win gold. so i dont also agree with peoples who always say ethiopian runners.should say kenenisa and dibaba
